Website Redesign Checklist for Growing Businesses.

A redesign should solve identifiable business and user problems. Changing the visual surface without protecting useful content, URLs and measurement can make a newer website perform worse.
Before design starts
- Record current URLs, titles, descriptions, headings and indexability.
- Export search and analytics data by landing page and conversion path.
- Identify content that earns visits, links, enquiries or support value.
- Map forms, integrations, downloads, redirects and account ownership.
- Document desktop and mobile layouts that must remain functional.
During design and development
Use real content, not placeholder text, to test hierarchy. Keep one clear H1 per page, descriptive links, keyboard access, visible focus, useful error messages and reserved image dimensions. Build a redirect map before changing any URL.
Before launch
Crawl the preview, test canonical tags and robots directives, validate the sitemap, check structured data and verify that analytics events do not collect sensitive information. Test forms and important journeys on actual mobile devices.
After launch
Submit the sitemap, inspect important URLs, watch 404s and redirects, and compare landing-page traffic rather than only total visits. Keep the previous URL inventory available while search engines recrawl the site.
